Home party (TALP)
Home party
Home party is a parser-based text adventure written by Zeno Pillan with inform 7 in 2024 and 2025.
This story is a work of fiction. Even thought the setting and a lot of details are memories from my youth, the plot and all actions you can perform are made up.
Teen rated
Even if this game does not contain any sensible or disturbing content and could be played by any audience, it is not designed having children audience in mind, so it can result inappropriate. The game includes: optional alcohol consumption, occasional cursed words and videogame violence.
Details
The game include a beginner-friendly in-game tutorial that explains how to play an interactive fiction. It also contains an hint system that will guide you step-by-step in solving the puzzles.
This game is Merciful in the interactive fiction cruelty scale: that mean you won’t ever risk a sudden game over or end in an unwinnable situation. If you get to any ending, you can undo last move to continue playing and get to any other ending.
I wrote the game in inform7, and I used https://borogove.app/# to compile it and generate both the downloadable and the integrated file.
I wrote all texts, code and ascii art in the game. English is not my first language, I used google translate, Grammarly, and chat GPT to check and fix most text.
A special thanks to my testers Garry Francis, Tabitha, dott. Piergiorgio, and Darren. Each of you motivated me and helped improve the game tremendously!
Instructions
This is a parser-based interactive fiction: to interact you’ll have to type textual commands after the prompt >. The game recognize English words and easy sentences. Basic commands of interactive fictions are explained in the tutorial; anyway those are specific commands recognized in this game: QUEST you don’t know what to do and need a more specific aim that just explore and discover it yourself? This is you command! HELP quite limited during the tutorial, since it will remember you only the commands you need for the task, but, after the tutorial is over, is a quite e exhaustive list of all commands you can use, HINT is the command to use if you really are stuck in game. Depending on your location and progress will give you the next move you should do. It is a explicit solution one action at a time.
